The United States launched a series of targeted military strikes Tuesday on Iran’s highly strategic Kharg Island, sending a clear message to the Tehran regime as President Donald Trump’s hard deadline rapidly approaches.
U.S. forces hit military targets on the island in early morning operations, carefully avoiding direct damage to Iran’s oil export infrastructure, at least for now.
Kharg Island is no ordinary target. It serves as the backbone of Iran’s economy, handling roughly 90% of the country’s crude oil exports.
According to The New York Post, U.S. officials emphasized the strikes were focused on military installations, including air defenses and storage facilities, not energy production itself.

It is also being reported that the power was cut off on Iran’s Kharg Island.
The New York Post reported:
Roughly 50 strikes were carried out on military targets on the Islamic Republic’s oil-critical stronghold, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing senior US officials.
Kharg Island, which is one-third the size of Manhattan and located in the Persian Gulf, controls roughly 90% of Iranian crude oil exports.
The mission included airstrikes along the northern side of the Island, hitting military bunkers and storage facilities, air defense systems, and other military facilities, an official told NBC News.
When asked about the Kharg Island strikes early Tuesday, Trump told The Post he “can’t comment on that.”
U.S. strikes on Iran’s Kharg Island do not signal any shift in American strategy, Vice President JD Vance said Tuesday while in Budapest.
“We were going to strike some military targets on Kharg Island, and I believe we have done so,” Vance said.
“We’re not going to strike energy and infrastructure targets until the Iranians either make a proposal that we can get behind or don’t make a proposal,” he added. “I don’t think the news in Kharg Island … represents a change in strategy, or represents any change from the President of the United States.”
