Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene once built her political brand as one of President Donald Trump’s most outspoken allies. Today, however, Greene increasingly sounds less like a MAGA leader and more like one of Trump’s loudest critics.

That shift was on full display during a recent CNN interview with host Caitlin Collins, where Greene delivered a barrage of attacks not only on the Trump administration’s foreign policy but on Trump himself.

For longtime Trump supporters, the moment was not shocking.

Greene’s criticism of Trump did not begin with this interview. Over the past year, Greene has repeatedly distanced herself from the core principles that defined the MAGA movement. The CNN appearance simply made the divide impossible to ignore.

During the interview, Greene openly questioned the administration’s handling of the conflict with Iran and framed the war as a betrayal of voters who supported Trump.

“This war is not something that Americans voted for in 2024,” Greene told CNN.

The criticism went even further. Greene also said Trump no longer deserves the Nobel Peace Prize—a sharp reversal from her previous praise of the president’s diplomatic record.

“At one time… I thought he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize,” Greene said. “Do I think he deserves it now? No. Absolutely not.”

Those remarks may have played well with CNN viewers, but they landed very differently among many Trump supporters.

For years, the mainstream media has mocked Trump’s foreign policy accomplishments while ignoring historic successes such as the Abraham Accords and the absence of new major wars during his first term.

Hearing those same arguments echoed by someone who once presented herself as a MAGA champion only reinforced the sense that Greene has been drifting away from the movement.

The CNN interview also included one of Greene’s most controversial claims—blaming Israel for the conflict.

“Israel pulled us into it,” she said.

That remark immediately sparked backlash among conservatives who view Iran’s regime as one of the most dangerous threats to American security and one of the world’s leading sponsors of terrorism.

But the most revealing part of the interview may have been Greene’s tone toward Trump himself.

Rather than defending the president or acknowledging the complexity of global security decisions, Greene repeatedly framed the situation as a betrayal of voters. She also criticized Congress broadly, describing it as an institution that “fails Americans over and over.”

The result was an interview that CNN eagerly amplified.

That dynamic has become increasingly common. Greene has appeared more frequently on left-leaning networks in recent months, often delivering critiques of Trump that those outlets are more than happy to broadcast.

President Trump’s movement is built around a clear political vision—strong borders, economic nationalism, peace through strength, and a willingness to challenge Washington’s political establishment.

Many MAGA voters believe those principles remain central to Trump’s leadership today.

Greene’s recent media appearances suggest she may be moving in a very different direction.

Whether she intends it or not, interviews like the one on CNN reinforce the perception that Greene is no longer speaking for the MAGA base but instead positioning herself as if she were a Democrat.

For a politician who once built her career on loyalty to Trump and the America First movement, that transformation has not gone unnoticed.
