New York Rep. Dan Goldman has accused Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) of “instigating” a violent confrontation in Manhattan’s Chinatown, all because federal agents dared to park in a garage while preparing for an immigration raid.
The incident unfolded on Saturday at a parking garage on Canal Street, where protesters gathered after learning of a significant ICE presence inside.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, the far-left activists swarmed the garage.
They blocked both entrances using wooden pallets, traffic barriers, and even their own bodies to stop the agents from conducting the operation.

Chants of “ICE out of New York!” echoed through the streets as dozens of ICE agents were trapped inside their vans, unable to proceed.
As the protest escalated, the New York Police Department (NYPD) arrived around 11:45 a.m. to clear the area, leading to a full-blown brawl. Protesters reportedly threw boxes, trash cans, and other debris at officers, who responded by using nightsticks and tackling individuals to the ground.
Demonstrators then retreated but dumped more trash from a nearby dumpster onto the street to further obstruct the agents.
A convoy of federal vehicles eventually left the garage, but protesters followed, pelting the vehicles with plant pots and additional items.
Multiple arrests were made, reports indicate double digits, though the NYPD did not immediately release exact numbers and charges.
In response to Saturday’s events, Goldman took to X to blast ICE, writing: “ICE is continuing to engage in reckless and unwarranted militarized operations.”
Goldman continued, “Today’s confrontation didn’t protect a single person but instead unnecessarily put New Yorkers, federal agents, and NYPD officers in harm’s way.”
“Make no mistake: any chaos and violence in NYC involving ICE is instigated by ICE,” Goldman concluded.

Many quickly pushed back against Goldman’s narrative, pointing out the absurdity of blaming federal agents for violence incited by a mob that actively obstructed their work.
