The FBI has reportedly opened an investigation into six Democratic lawmakers who brazenly filmed a video encouraging U.S. military members to refuse what they called “illegal orders” from President Donald Trump.

The investigation was publicized by Sen. Elissa Slotkin, who appeared in the video, in a post to X on Tuesday.

Last night, the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division appeared to open an inquiry into me in response to a video President Trump did not like.

The President directing the FBI to target us is exactly why we made this video in the first place. He believes in weaponizing the federal government against his perceived enemies and does not believe laws apply to him or his Cabinet. He uses legal harassment as an intimidation tactic to scare people out of speaking up.

This isn’t just about a video. This is not the America I know, and I’m not going to let this next step from the FBI stop me from speaking up for my country and our Constitution.

This news of an investigation comes after Trump himself blasted the group as “traitors” and labeled their actions as “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”

The lawmakers in the video are Sens. Slotkin and Mark Kelly, and Reps. Jason Crow, Maggie Goodlander, Chris Deluzio, and Chrissy Houlahan — all of whom are Democrats.

In the video, the Democrat politicians pompously declared that service members have a right under U.S. law to ignore orders they deem unlawful, essentially sowing seeds of mutiny against the Commander-in-Chief.

Democrats in Congress are openly advocating mutiny by the U.S. Armed Forces

They care nothing about the general welfare of the nation

It’s all about “get Trump” with these imbeciles

The unhinged politicians claimed the “threats to our Constitution” are coming “from right here at home.”

“You must refuse illegal orders,” Rep. Deluzio, a Navy veteran, declares in the video.

Several of the lawmakers in the video also recite the line, “You can refuse illegal orders. You must refuse illegal orders.”

Trump responded to the video in a post to Truth Social on Thursday, declaring, “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”

Trump’s post about the death penalty followed another post in which he responded to a report from the Washington Examiner about the video and wrote, “This is really bad, and Dangerous to our Country. Their words cannot be allowed to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP??? President DJT”

The White House subsequently clarified that the president does not want members of Congress to be executed.

Legal experts note that 18 U.S.C. § 2384 defines seditious conspiracy as two or more persons conspiring to oppose by force the authority of the United States or to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law.

The maximum penalty under current federal law is 20 years’ imprisonment.

However, President Trump’s reference to “punishable by DEATH” likely refers to historical penalties for sedition and treason during wartime or extreme national security circumstances.

The Hill reports:

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche last week stopped short of saying the posts could be considered language associated with an insurrection but did say any Justice Department probe “would absolutely be under what these — what their intent was in saying this.”

The lawmakers involved have dismissed the criticism, saying they were well within their First Amendment rights to state a fact as U.S. troops are being domestically deployed into cities and asked to carry out deadly strikes against small boats in the Caribbean.
