During the holiday season, fundraisers to help those in need are a common occurrence. But a recent attempt to tug at the heartstrings to help families in need has been exposed as yet another attempt to pad the coffers of someone decidedly not in need.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) recently sent out an email asking supporters to donate for a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway in New York City.
The message read, “Thanksgiving is two weeks away. Will you chip in $5 or anything you can today to help us bring the joy of the holiday season into homes around NYC this year?”
The link, however, goes straight to the Democrat fundraising platform, ActBlue, and contributes directly to her campaign.
The page disclosure notes, “paid for by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress, with donations not qualifying as charitable deductions.”
Instead of having supporters send donations directly to community organizations organizing turkey drives — like she did in 2021 when she reported raising $33,589.64 for three local charities — she’s having people send money to her campaign.
“A campaign is not supposed to be a pass-through for charitable work,” said former City Council Minority Leader Joe Borelli.
“What if she raised enough money for a million turkeys? Would she buy a million turkeys, or would she keep $990,000 for her campaign and then throw the rest of the turkeys out the back of a truck and take a photo-op?”
“This is a clear case of why a campaign is not a charitable organization,” he added.
AOC is already campaigning for Senate by using donations to hand out turkeys to districts “far and wide” in NYC and slapping her sticker on the boxes.
Of course, turkeys will go to many illegals. She doesn’t mention Americans once in her video.

The Gateway Pundit reported that in March, the House Judiciary, the Committee on House Administration, and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform requested two employees of ActBlue voluntarily comply with a request for transcribed interviews.
Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, House Admin Chairman Bryan Steil, and House Oversight Chairman James Comer have issued subpoenas to former Vice President of Customer Service Alyssa Twomey and an ActBlue Senior Workflow Specialist for their depositions “regarding allegations that online fundraising platforms, including ActBlue, have accepted fraudulent donations from domestic and foreign sources.”
According to a press release, “While serving as ActBlue’s Vice President of Customer Service, Alyssa Twomey managed ActBlue’s fraud-prevention team. The Committees have found significant evidence that ActBlue had ‘a fundamentally unserious approach to fraud prevention’ during this period.”
The release claims that ActBlue “weakened its fraud-prevention standards twice in 2024 despite knowledge of significant attempted fraud on the platform, including from foreign actors.”
In September, Representatives Bryan Steil, Jim Jordan, and James Comer issued additional subpoenas to a current ActBlue attorney, as well as two former attorneys for the Democrat fundraising powerhouse.
