As world leaders jump ship at South Africa’s embarrassing G20 summit following the Trump administration’s boycott, the White House called out President Cyril Ramaphosa’s false claims the US would be attending after all. Local Boer civil rights group AfriForum appealed for the world to take note of their persecution, which it detailed in a report.

After the Trump administration waged a battle of words with the South African government over its persecution of the White Afrikaner minority, the White House announced it would not ne taking part in the glad-handing cluster in the hellhole former jewel of Africa, Johannesburg. President Javier Milei of Argnetine joined the boycott, while President Xi Jinping of China, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto also bailed, realizing the whole affair will just be a pricey gabfest without the world’s superpower, the United States of America.

Struggling to save his failing summit, corrupt billionaire South African President Cyril Ramaphosa claimed without evidence Wednesday the US would be attend after all.

During a Thursday press conference, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said “We have received notice from the United States, a notice which we are still in discussions with them over about a change of mind, about participating in one shape, form or other in the summit … In a way we see this as a positive sign, very positive, because as I’ve often said, boycott politics never work.”

Everyone’s favorite press secretary Karoline Leavitt clapped back at Ramaphosa Thursday:

“The United States is not participating in the official talks at the G20 in South Africa. I saw the South African President running his mouth a little bit  against the US and the US President earlier today, and that language is not appreciated by the President or his team.” Leavitt said.

Instead, the United States withbh send acting US envoy to South Africa Marc Dillard to the closing ceremony to accept the G20 presidency handover for the 2026 G20 summit that will take place at Trump National Doral golf resport in Miami, Florida, in December 2026.

“The Ambassador of the US to South Africa is simply there to recognise that the US will be the host of the G20. They are receiving that send-off at the end of the event. They are not there to participate in official talks, despite what the South African President is falsely claiming,” Secretary Karoline Leavitt added.

In a further diplomatic temper tantrum, South African government spokesman Vincent Magwenya said Ramaphosa will not hand over the presidency to Dillard because he is not fully accredited as Ambassador.

The President will not hand over to a Charge’ d’ Affaires.

Dillard has been serving as Chargé d’Affaires in Kenya since February 1, 2023. He arrived in South Africa in August 2025 as Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) at the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria, where he also serves as Chargé d’Affaires in the absence of an ambassador.

Donald Trump’s nominated Leo Bozell III., founder of the renowned, Mercer-funded Media Research Center, as Ambassador to South Africa March 25, 2025, during the escalating war of worlds with Pretoria.

During his confirmation hearing October, Bozell explicitly criticized South Africa’s destabilizing policy of race-based quotas, land expropriation and ignoring brutal farm murders.

“I come before you at a challenging moment for U.S.-South Africa relations,” Leo Brent Bozell III said in his opening statment. “The President has expressed serious concerns about South Africa that for too long have been unaddressed.”

“When people and businesses in South Africa believe their private property rights are at risk; when many South Africans feel unsafe in their homes; when rampant corruption and unfair business practices hold back the South African economy; and when South African politicians greet as friends those who seek to destabilize the world’s peace and security, then common ground between our two countries feels harder to find.

If confirmed as Ambassador, in addition to supporting U.S. citizens in South Africa. I will work on the following priorities:

I will communicate our objections to South Africa’s geostrategic drift from non-alignment toward our competitors, including Russia, China and Iran.

I would press South Africa to end proceedings against Israel before the International Court of Justice and to pressure the International Criminal Court prosecutor to discontinue this lawfare, which is belied by Israel’s support for the ceasefire in Gaza and commitment to the rules of war throughout the conflict.

I will support the President’s call for the South African government to rescind its support for the expropriation of private property without compensation and will advance the President’s invitation to Afrikaners who wish to flee unjust racial discrimination.

I will explore how we can support the South African government in making sure all South Africans can thrive free from the threat of violence.

Finally, I will advocate for business interests by promoting fair trade practices and reduced barriers that will level the playing field for U.S. companies and empower South Africa as an engine of economic growth, creating a more prosperous future for both our countries.”

Bozell has yet to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Ahead of the G20 summit, Afrikaner civil rights organisation AfriForum called on the G20 countries to request, during diplomatic discussions with the South African government during the G20 summit and afterwards, that property rights in South Africa be respected and that effective action be taken to combat farm murders. The organisation has written to the embassies of the G20 countries and also presented solutions to these problems.

According to Kallie Kriel, CEO of AfriForum, farm murders and the disrespect for property rights in South Africa have already had a direct negative impact on the upcoming G20 summit, as the US has decided to boycott the summit due to these issues. Kriel points out that the G20 countries can play a constructive role in stabilising not only local relations in South Africa, but also international relations by pledging their support for efforts to find solutions to protect property rights and combat farm murders.

“It is in the G20 countries’ own interest that property rights in South Africa are protected, as the disregard for property rights could jeopardise investment from their countries in South Africa and deter future investors. The disregard for property rights in places like Zimbabwe and Venezuela has caused great suffering for the ordinary people of those countries. Hyperinflation, unemployment and growing poverty have followed,” says Kriel.

According to Kriel, out of loyalty to South Africa and all people in the country, AfriForum is conducting a campaign to convince the South African government that expropriation without compensation, as contained in the Expropriation Act, will have catastrophic consequences for everyone in the country.

Some of the solutions that AfriForum proposes for farm murders and the protection of property rights are as follows:

Farm murders

  • President Cyril Ramaphosa should be urged to unconditionally condemn the “Kill the Boer” chant, which is a call for ethnic violence against Afrikaners.
  • The South African government must at least acknowledge the fact that farm murders are accompanied by excessive torture and violence.
  • Farm murders should be declared a priority crime, as is already the case with many other crimes — even rhino poaching is a priority crime.
  • The government must decide that the South African Police Service must officially and in a planned manner collaborate with farm and neighbourhood watches in South Africa, which operate within the framework of the law.

Expropriation Act

  • The South African government must commit itself to protecting property rights.
  • Section 12(3) of the Expropriation Act, which allows for expropriation without compensation, must be scrapped.
  • Section 19(2) of the Expropriation Act, which allows expropriation to take place before there is a final decision in the courts, must be amended.

AfriForum published its report The World Must Know, detailing the persecution of the Afrikaner minority in South Africa, and its annual Farm Murder Report 2024.
