A radical leftist who has been leeching off her parents has officially won the Seattle Mayoral race, unseating the moderate liberal mayor.
As Fox News reported, 43-year-old Democratic Socialist Katie Wilson defeated Seattle Democratic Mayor Bruce Harrell in an election that took over a week to determine.
Harrell initially led on election night, but the lead disappeared over the following days as more ballots were counted. He conceded on Thursday as the vote totals guaranteed a win for Wilson.
Wilson released a jubilant victory statement following her victory:
This campaign was driven by a deep belief that we need to expand the table to include everyone in the decisions that impact their lives. “That is what we will be working to do every day as we set up this new administration.
The Gateway Pundit previously reported Wilson was on track to win the election after building a seemingly insurmountable lead.
Like newly elected New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani, Wilson, who operates a tiny left-wing nonprofit called the Transit Riders Union, has been criticized for her radical political platform. She will now lead the city of 750,000 people and the largest urban center in the Pacific Northwest.
Per Fox News, here is what she has planned for Seattle:
Wilson, like Mamdani, has proposed policies like implementing government-run grocery stores. She pledged to explore government-backed grocery stores if elected this fall after accepting the endorsement from grocery workers union UFCW 3000, Washington’s largest private-sector union. New York voters, meanwhile, saw a similar pitch from Mamdani.
Wilson has also vowed to “Trump-proof” the Emerald City.
A closer examination of her background reveals even more amazing details. Wilson previously proposed defunding the police.
In June 2020, she proposed a “Solidarity Budget” following the George Floyd riots, which would have reduced the Seattle police department’s budget by 50%.
“There’s a strong argument for simply disbanding police departments and starting over,” Wilson wrote in an op-ed.
Wilson cannot afford to live in Seattle on her own, however. She is dependent on aid from her wealthier parents, particularly with childcare costs.
“They send me a check periodically to help with the child care expenses,” Wilson explained to local outlet KUOW, while noting that daycare for her kids costs about $2,200 per month.
KUOW also notes that Wilson dropped out of college just six weeks before graduating from the University of Oxford in England, but she is debt-free, thanks to her mommy and daddy.
One could say she is a textbook socialist. After all, infamous communist philosopher Karl Marx was one of the laziest human beings in history, regularly depending on others for financial support.
