Republican Congressman Buddy Carter of Georgia has introduced a bill to cut off federal funding to New York City for as long as Zohran Mamdani serves as mayor.
The measure, titled the Moving American Money Distant from Anti-National Interests Act (MAMDANI Act),
“Notwithstanding any other provision of law, during any period in which Zohran Mamdani is mayor of New York, New York, any unobligated Federal funds available for the city are hereby rescinded,” states a copy of the bill obtained by Fox News.
It adds that “no federal funds may be obligated or expended for any purpose to New York.”
The legislation is expected to be introduced on Friday.
NEW MAMDANI ACT WOULD BLOCK FEDERAL FUNDS TO NYC AFTER SOCIALIST’S INAUGURATION
New legislation led by Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga., is called the Moving American Money Distant from Anti-National Interests Act, or the “MAMDANI Act” for short.

Carter, who is running for Senate in Georgia, argued that federal funds raised from his state “should not be wasted on programs that will bankrupt the financial capital of the world.”
“If New Yorkers want communism, we should let them have their wish and not artificially prop them up with our successful capitalist system,” Carter said.
“Any New Yorker with common sense is welcome to move to the great, FREE state of Georgia.”
Carter’s proposal comes amid growing concern among locals and stakeholders in New York City about its future as the world’s financial capital.
Mamdani won Tuesday’s mayoral election by a relative landslide after running on an explicitly socialist platform.
He ended up securing just over 50 percent of the vote, an outright majority that most pollsters had predicted.
Just over 24 hours after being declared the victor, Mamdani was already begging for donations from the public to bankroll his administration and help force through his vision of a socialist New York City.
“Remember how I told you a few months ago to stop sending us money?” he said in a video message to supporters. You can start again.
“This transition requires staff, research, and an infrastructure that can meet this moment, and it will be made possible by the people who built and believe in this movement. So I hope you’ll make a donation at Transition2025.com.”
Thank you, New York City. Together we made history.
Now let’s get to work. https://t.co/G7F2sbda74 pic.twitter.com/GQABMqJHgn
