Today is day 27 of the Schumer Shutdown.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground delay at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) on Monday amid the government shutdown.

Incoming flights to DFW were delayed by at least 18 minutes.

Flights departing DFW were grounded due to staffing issues on Monday afternoon at 3 pm local time.

The Dallas Morning News reported:

The Federal Aviation Administration on Monday issued a ground delay for flights departing to DFW International Airport due to staffing issues.

Flights bound for DFW are delayed an average of 18 minutes, according to the FAA’s website. The delay is currently in effect until 9:59 p.m., the FAA said.

“The FAA implements air traffic management programs based on its capacity for safe operations,” Zachary Greiner, a spokesperson for DFW Airport, told The Dallas Morning News in an email. “Beyond that I would refer you to the FAA for any specific details about their staffing. As always, we encourage travelers to check their flight status with their airline.”

As of 3 p.m., DFW, which is the central hub of American Airlines, had 301 delays and two cancellations, according to data from flight-tracking site FlightAware.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer shut the government down on October 1 because he prioritized healthcare benefits for illegal aliens.

The Senate has failed to reopen the government 12 times since October 1.

The House is currently out of session.

On Sunday, the FAA issued a ground stop at Los Angeles International Airport due to staffing issues.

“The FAA said planes headed for Los Angeles were held at their originating airports starting at 11:42 a.m. Eastern time, causing delays averaging an hour and 40 minutes. The agency said it expected to lift the ground stop at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time but might continue to restrict traffic into LAX,” ABC News reported.

Airports in New Jersey and Florida also experienced disruptions and delays due to staffing shortages.
