Screencap of Twitter/X video.

Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana recently appeared on FOX News and was asked to respond to liberal criticisms of Trump’s crackdown on crime.

Kennedy pointed out the obvious, that crime in Washington, DC is way down because of Trump’s actions. He also notes that this is not a difficult issue. No one like crime, except maybe criminals.

Finally, Kennedy took a shot at Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, who is vowing to fight Trump’s efforts to curb crime in Chicago, suggesting that ‘even the mafia is leaving Chicago’ because of crime.

Transcript via RedState:

Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m against crime. I think most Americans are, unless they happen to be a criminal or they happen to be like a rock, only dumber. It’s also a fact that over the last five or ten years, many of our major cities in America are worse. If you measure it in terms of crime and violence and education, poverty, family formation, it’s easiest, not easy, but it’s easiest of the problems I’ve just mentioned to deal with crime.

And it’s working. We’ve sent in law enforcement officials to Washington. Crime violence is down. I don’t understand Governor Pritzker’s pushback. He’s got a crime problem in Chicago. I mean, even the mafia is leaving Chicago because of the crime. I suspect Governor Pritzker, he seems to view random violence as preferable to having help from federal officials coming in.

And I think it’s probably because of his animosity toward President Trump. If President Trump came out in favor of breathing to survive, Governor Pritzker would probably hold his breath.

Senator Kennedy always has a way with words! The point he makes is correct as well. Chicago crime is out of control and the city would benefit from any help Trump could give through the federal government.
