RINO Rep. Don Bacon Says He Is Retiring Because Congress Is Time-Consuming: “I Don’t Want to Do 14-Hour Days and DC 4 Days a Week Anymore”

After years of aligning with the establishment and repeatedly bucking the America First movement, Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) has finally had enough—not of the swamp, but of the workload.

The congressman from Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District announced he won’t seek reelection in 2026.

In a statement posted to X, Bacon wrote:

“Some like to spin my retirement from Congress to fit their own wishes. I’m retiring from Congress in 2027 to spend more time with family & home. I don’t want to do 14-hour days & DC 4 days a week anymore, which is what it takes to win this purple seat.”

Bacon’s retirement isn’t about family—it’s about political survival. After barely clinging to his seat for years, he’s bowing out before voters finally reject his weak-kneed “moderation.” His record? Voting with Democrats on key issues while pretending to stand for Nebraska.

Apparently, long hours and hard work for the American people are too much for Congressman Don Bacon.

Speaking to NOTUS earlier this year, Bacon confirmed he is discussing with his family whether to seek reelection next year, promising a final decision by late summer.

“It is a family decision,” Bacon told the news outlet.

Three sources told NOTUS that Bacon is seriously considering an exit — a decision that would mark a victory for conservatives but create a tough battleground for Republicans defending the suburban Omaha district, where Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris won by over 4 points in 2024.

Last week, he announced that he would not seek reelection.

After announcing plans to retire, RINO Don Bacon threatened to derail Trump’s agenda with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act when the Senate sends it back to the House, where Republicans hold a slim majority.

“I’m not a ‘yes’ necessarily,” he said shortly after announcing plans to retire.

Bacon’s Long List of Betrayals

Opposing Jim Jordan’s Speakership Bid (2023): Bacon was a vocal opponent of Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), a conservative icon, during the 2023 House Speaker race. He not only voted against Jordan but publicly called him a “loser” on social media, accusing Jordan’s supporters of breaking election rules.

Backing Kevin McCarthy and Threatening to Work with Democrats (2023): Bacon fiercely defended former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, even after his ousting. In a Daily Caller op-ed, he slammed conservative holdouts and suggested he’d partner with moderate Democrats to elect a “more moderate” Republican speaker.

Comparing America First to Nazi Germany (2023): Bacon allegedly likened the Trump-aligned America First movement to Nazi Germany, a direct attack on the conservative base.

Bipartisan Votes Alienating Conservatives: He backed the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill in 2021, one of only 13 Republicans to do so, prompting President Donald Trump to single him out at a 2022 rally. He also supported the Respect for Marriage Act (2022), codifying same-sex marriage, and co-sponsored the Emmett Till Antilynching Act, moves critics argue align with progressive agendas.

Nebraska RINO Rep. Don Bacon Attacks Trump Officials For ‘Intentional’ Security Breach: Nebraska RINO Don Bacon has lambasted Trump officials for the security breach that led to war plans being linked to the media.

RINO Rep. Don Bacon Calls for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to be Fired: Rep. Don Bacon echoed Democrat talking points by publicly calling for President Trump to fire Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth — all based on a debunked New York Times smear.
