A 38-year-old Ohio father, Rodney Hinton, Jr., was arrested and charged with aggravated murder after allegedly running over and killing a sheriff’s deputy on Friday in Cincinnati in revenge for the police shooting death of his son, 18-year-old Ryan Hinton on Thursday during s stolen car investigation.


Thursday morning, Ryan Hinton was seen along with three other young men fleeing a KIA stolen from Kentucky that was parked at a Cincinnati apartment complex and was pursued by officers who witnessed him drop and pick up a firearm as he fled. He was shot and killed by a Cincinnati police officer after continuing to flee and allegedly pointing the gun at an officer. A handgun with a loaded extended magazine and scratches was found near where Hinton fell after being shot. An additional magazine was found on his person, according to police. The three other suspects are all reported to be in custody as of Saturday morning.
Rodney Hinton had watched the police bodycam videos of his son’s death on Friday before allegedly running over the Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputy. The deputy, who has not been identified so far, had recently retired but was working as a special deputy helping manage traffic for graduation events at the University of Cincinnati, standing in an intersection when he was run over and killed.

At his arraignment Saturday morning, Rodney Hinton, Jr. was surrounded by local law enforcement officers.
