According to a new report, a bullet fragment recovered from Charlie Kirk’s body was identified as a .30 caliber that matched the rifle used by Tyler Robinson.
Robinson fatally shot TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025 during an event at Utah Valley University.
Tyler Robinson allegedly used a Mauser 98 .30-06 rifle to kill Charlie Kirk.
Robinson was charged with:
– Count 1: Aggravated murder (capital offense)
– Count 2: Felony reckless discharge of a firearm causing bodily injury
– Count 3: Felony obstruction of justice for hiding the firearm
– Count 4: Felony obstruction of justice for discarding the clothing he wore during the shooting
– Count 5: Witness tampering for asking roommate to delete incriminating messages
– Count 6: Witness tampering for demanding trans roommate stay silent, and not speak to police
– Count 7: Commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child
Utah prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
Last month a court filing by Robinson’s defense claimed the ATF had not been able to “identify” the bullet recovered in the autopsy of Charlie Kirk.
A new filing revealed that a bullet fragment recovered from Kirk’s body did indeed match the rifle used by Tyler Robinson.

A bombshell new court filing in the case against Charlie Kirk’s accused killer Tyler Robinson provides new details about the bullet that took the conservative activist’s life and the gunman that allegedly fired it.
Robinson, 22, is facing capital murder charges and a potential death sentence for Kirk’s murder at Utah Valley University on September 10.
The forensic details surrounding the bullet examinations have fueled numerous debates and conspiracies surrounding the case, especially after the defense revealed in a recent court filing that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) ‘was unable to identify the bullet recovered at autopsy to the rifle allegedly tied to Mr. Robinson.’
But an ATF summary of the forensic report, part of documents filed by the defense in January, was unsealed by a judge on Wednesday revealing more details of the forensic investigation and recovered evidence from the scene.
The report reveals that one bullet jacket fragment that was recovered from Kirk’s autopsy matched a .30 caliber class bullet. Four other lead bullet fragments were also recovered.
‘The ATF lab described the item as a “.30-caliber class deformed/damaged bullet jacket fragment,”‘ the filing reveals, citing evidence included in the report after the FBI lab conducted analysis of the bullet jacket fragment.

Last Friday, a newly-unsealed affidavit revealed that Tyler Robinson wrote a handwritten letter to his live-in lover Lance Twiggs, AKA, “Luna” in which he admits to a plot to kill Charlie Kirk.
“I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I took it,” Robinson wrote.
Investigators also recovered DNA, a palm print on the roof of the Losee Center building.
