Senator Dave McCormick was on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream to talk about the amazing rescue of a downed F-15 airman in Iran.
“Senator, welcome back. Your reaction to this rescue mission?” Bream asked.
“What an Easter miracle,” McCormick said.
“There are just so many heroes in this story. The fact that the President, the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman, and the military leadership would do anything necessary to get this airman back on our side, back home,” McCormick said.
“As a soldier, when you are going into enemy territory, to know that the American people and America is going to do everything it can to get you home is critical,” McCormick said.
“We have the heroes in the intel community who use misdirection to take the Iranians in a different direction and who also identified where this man was, which made the operation possible,” McCormick continued.
“We had hundreds of special operators and aircraft in the region, and then this guy, this airman, was an absolute hero. He climbed 7,000 feet. When the planners were trying to identify where he was, they couldn’t imagine that he was both injured and was able to get to that point where he could be eventually rescued,” McCormick explained.
“A remarkable operation that only America, only the American military, and the American intel community could pull off,” McCormick said.
“I think just a continuation of the demonstration that we have seen over the last six weeks of America’s unique military capability,” McCormick continued.
“What does it tell you about where we are with the capabilities of Iran’s missile launching, their air defenses. The fact that they do still have some tools in their belts?” Bream asked.
“I think you really have to step back. Five Presidents have essentially said that we cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon, and that Iran building up its capabilities in the region has to be checked,” McCormick said.
Senator McCormick said that it was President Trump who took action against the Iranian regime in order to keep America safe.
“This President has taken leadership to systematically eliminate this threat to America’s allies, to the American people,” McCormick said.
