Pastor Frederick Haynes, the Democrat nominee to replace Rep. Jasmine Crockett and represent Texas’ 30th Congressional District, trashed Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk right after his death, accusing him of spreading “dangerous” ideas like “racism” and “white supremacy,” and declared that his killing was not an “assassination.”

Haynes, the long-time pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church in southern Dallas, won the primary against Crockett on Tuesday evening. He entered the race after her failed bid for the U.S. Senate, and he even received her endorsement.

The Sunday after Kirk’s assassination, Haynes went on a vile rant to his congregation during his sermon.

“A white Christian gets killed, murdered, not assassinated,” Haynes declared from the pulpit.

He went on to say, “We gonna tell the whole truth today. Martin King got assassinated. Malcolm X got assassinated. Don’t compare Kirk to King. Ain’t no such comparison now.”

While claiming to be “anti-political violence” and stating that “Kirk should still be alive,” Haynes didn’t hold back with his clear disdain.

“What Kirk said was dangerous. What Kirk said was racist, rooted in white supremacy, nasty, and hate-filled,” he continued.

Haynes has a history of extremist and inflammatory rhetoric.

For example, the candidate has repeatedly praised Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, calling him a “wonderful and great man.”

Haynes has also demanded that white Americans owe black people reparations.

In 2022, Haynes declared, “America, you owe us. What you done to us has been immoral. It’s been evil. It’s been unjust. It’s been downright wrong and the only way to bring salvation to America – you gotta pay us what you owe us.”

During a sermon at the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship the same year, Haynes blasted a “slave Bible hermeneutic” that “divorces Jesus from justice” and turns Christianity into “Americanity” captive to capitalism. He remixed Matthew 25 to say, “I was hungry but you cut aid to dependent children. I was thirsty and you contaminated water in Flint, Michigan. I was a stranger and you built a wall on the border. I was in prison because of the prison industrial complex. America, go to hell.”

He proclaimed, “I’m a heretic in the name of Jesus.”

The following year, at a White House rally, he added that the U.S. was “born in the sin of a hostile, genocidal takeover of Indigenous land and shaped by anti-black White supremacy.”

In a sermon, Haynes blasted people who characterize the U.S. as non-violent, saying, “America was born in political violence. America committed political violence during the slave trade, America committed political violence when black bodies hung as strange fruit from old southern trees, America committed political violence against the Irish, against the Italians, before they became white.”

Haynes’ campaign platform aligns with the far left, including pushing for universal healthcare and the abolition of ICE.

With the district’s strong left-wing voting history, Haynes is expected to cruise to victory in the November general election.
