The gold medal-winning US Men’s Hockey Team made a grand entrance at President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday night, walking in to resounding chants of “USA! USA!” from the crowd — but about half of the Democrats in attendance disrespectfully remained seated.
As the team entered the House chamber, the crowd erupted in applause and chants of “USA.”
President Trump, from the podium, highlighted the team’s accomplishment, joking that “even the Democrats stood up” for these American heroes, though he pointedly called out that not all Democrats rose to their feet.
The team has faced backlash from the left for happily accepting Trump’s invitation to the White House and SOTU.

The men’s team attendance stood in stark contrast to the US Women’s Hockey Team, who also clinched gold against Canada but declined Trump’s invitation, claiming they had scheduling conflicts.
The team’s appearance came fresh off their historic overtime victory against Canada at the Winter Olympics in Milan, marking the first US men’s hockey gold since the legendary “Miracle on Ice” in 1980.
The champions, donning their Olympic sweaters and proudly displaying their gold medals, were personally invited by President Trump during a celebratory phone call to their locker room immediately after the big win.
Trump even arranged for a US Air Force 757 to fly the team from Miami, where they had been celebrating with patriotic anthems in a local club, to Washington, D.C., ensuring they could attend the event.
