Senator Bill Hagerty was on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream to discuss ICE. He blasted the Democrat leadership in Minnesota for the chaos in the streets, putting ICE agents in danger. He also supported reasonable measures like bodycams while strongly opposing the requirement to take off masks and put names on their uniforms.
ICE agents have been doxed, and the number of doxxings would greatly increase if the agents personal information were to get out to these radical leftists.
“What are Republicans willing to agree to with respect to ICE reforms instead of having another government shutdown?” Bream asked.
“Well, I think it’s clear ICE themselves are ready to deal with the body cameras,” Hagerty said.
“This isn’t a serious negotiation. This is all happening in the media trying to you know, motivate a radical left base,” Hagerty explained.
“In Memphis, In Tennessee, we actually have cooperation with local authorities. If the local authorities would cooperate in Minneapolis with ICE, they would issue the detainer. The ICE agent would go directly to the jail, pick up the person, and move on,” Senator Haggerty said.
“It takes four to eight times more agents to go into the field to go after the same criminal. That’s why you have so many people in Minneapolis. That’s why this is so chaotic,” Hagerty continued.
“The Democrats, the local leadership, Tim Walz, the Mayor of Minneapolis, are actively encouraging people to resist. They are not agreeing, they are not cooperating with authorities at the federal level, and the result is utter chaos in Minneapolis,” Hagerty said.
Senator Hagerty explained the difference in results when a city is cooperative with the federal government with regard to ICE operations.
“Go to Memphis. Memphis is now becoming one of the safest cities in America because we do have cooperation at the local level, at the state level and the federal level,” Hagerty said.
“Memphis has been dramatically improved in terms of reduction of crime on the streets and in the neighborhoods,” Senator Hagerty continued.
“All the polling showed us that most Americans blamed Republicans last time there was this epic shutdown just months ago. How do Republicans thread that needle?” Bream asked.
“I think Democrats are gonna have a very hard time shutting the government down just so they can perpetuate the kind of chaos that is going on in Minneapolis,” Hagerty said.
“There is a reason why ICE does not want to have their badges and their images on their uniforms. There is a reason why they are masking because threats have risen 1,300 percent. Death threats against ICE agents. They are being doxed,” Hagerty said.
“The request that we should put ICE agents in harm’s way is absolutely intolerable,” Hagerty continued.
Senator Hagerty also explained that a government shutdown would affect the Coast Guard and emergency services like FEMA and would affect travel since it would also impact TSA.
“It’s gonna impact the Coast Guard. It’s gonna impact TSA. It’s gonna impact FEMA in our state. You know, we’ve had massive ICE storms. Let’s shut that down, is that the argument the Democrats want to make?” Senator Hagerty continued.
