Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on Tuesday met with Border Czar Tom Homan, who is in Minnesota currently amid the chaos and violence caused by left-wing anti-ICE protesters.

This comes after the death of Alex Pretti, who was shot after attempting to impede federal agents while carrying a gun and two fully loaded magazines, the Department of Homeland Security says.

Trump said he spoke with Walz on Monday, describing the call as “very good” after Walz had declared that he’s “creating a log of evidence for the future prosecution of ICE agents and officials responsible for this.”

Walz’s office said that Trump agreed “that he would talk to his Department of Homeland Security about ensuring the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is able to conduct an independent investigation” into the death of Alex Pretti on Saturday. Walz’s office further claimed that Trump agreed to “reduce the number of federal agents in Minnesota.

However, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, during a press briefing afterward, said the President “did not make a commitment” regarding an investigation, while noting that “There are investigations into what took place on Saturday.”

She added, “Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI have teamed up for an investigation, and there’s also an internal CBP investigation, an internal review of what is happening on the ground in Minnesota. The president supports those investigations, and as I’ve said repeatedly, he wants to see them move forward.”

But Walz again called for “impartial investigations” into the deaths of Pretti and Renee Good, who was shot by an ICE agent after attempting to mow him down with her car. It is still unclear what the Trump Administration has agreed to or conceded to the leftist governor.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Walz took a victory lap before his meeting, declaring in an interview that what he described as a “massive organized nonviolent resistance” forced the Trump Administration to back down, essentially declaring victory for the radical thugs rioting in the streets of Minnesota.

“There’s a hint of hope and optimism, but there is a resolve that says, you know, the end of this is not Greg Bovino leaving,” Walz continued, labeling ICE as an “unorganized, untrained, dangerous force on the streets that has nothing to do with either immigration or law enforcement.”

“The end of this is a sane policy on how you do immigration reform and stop an attack by the federal government on the state.”

In a meeting with border czar Tom Homan this morning, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz called for “impartial investigations” into the killings of Good and Pretti, a “swift, significant reduction” in the number of federal forces in the state, and “an end to the campaign of retribution” there.

Trump yesterday sent Homan to Minnesota, where the law enforcement officer will oversee ICE operations on the ground.

Walz and Homan “agreed on the need for an ongoing dialogue and will continue working toward those goals, which the President also agreed to yesterday,” the second-term Democratic governor’s office said in a statement.

Walz tasked the Minnesota Department of Public Safety as the “primary liaison to Homan to ensure these goals are met,” Walz’s office said in closing.

This is a developing story.
