Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and former U.S. President Donald Trump appear in a split image, highlighting political tensions between Venezuela and the United States.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro is due in a US court on Monday following a daring US military operation in the dead of night, which resulted in his capture.

The US military executed strikes and a ground invasion to capture Maduro and his wife on Saturday at approximately 2 am local time, and they were taken prisoner on board the USS Iwo Jima.

Trump posted the following video of the strikes, which targeted at least four sites around Caracas, Venezuela.

Maduro was indicted in the Southern District of New York on charges of Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States, the Gateway Pundit reported.

Meanwhile, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez claims that Maduro was kidnapped and demanded his “immediate release” this afternoon.

Per Reuters:

Maduro’s apparent successor, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, appeared on Venezuelan television Saturday afternoon, flanked by other top officials to decry what she called a kidnapping.

“We demand the immediate release of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores,” Rodriguez said, calling Maduro “the only president of Venezuela.”

Maduro is expected to make an initial appearance in Manhattan federal court on Monday, according to a Justice Department official.

Rodriguez spoke shortly after Trump, who was flanked by senior U.S. officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, said his administration had been in touch with her and that she appeared cooperative, noting that, “She really doesn’t have a choice.”

Trump discussed Maduro’s capture and indictment during a press conference earlier, where he told reporters that he would be brought to New York and held in a location to be determined by officials.
