President Trump will deliver remarks on the economy and his achievements since taking office tonight in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Trump previewed his speech during an Oval Office press conference on Thursday, telling reporters that he’ll be talking about how he’s fixing the damage Biden did to the country.
“We inherited a mess, and part of what we inherited was the worst inflation in 48 years— I say history, but we had the worst inflation that drove prices up, and now we’re bringing those prices down,” he said.
“I’ll be talking about that; I’ll be talking about the fact that we secured the border, where literally nobody can come into our country illegally anymore. They came in from prisons and mental institutions and drug dealers and, you know, a lot of bad people from all over the world.”

Trump also said on Truth Social earlier Friday, crediting the unemployment rate increase to cutting the size of government. “100% OF OUR NEW JOBS ARE IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR! I could reduce Unemployment to 2% overnight by just hiring people into the Federal Government, even though those Jobs are not necessary,” he said, slamming the fake news for misreporting the 4.5% unemployment statistic.
The only reason our Unemployment ticked up to 4.5% is because we are reducing the Government Workforce by numbers that have never been seen before. 100% OF OUR NEW JOBS ARE IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR! I could reduce Unemployment to 2% overnight by just hiring people into the Federal Government, even though those Jobs are not necessary. I wish the Fake News would report the 4.5% correctly. What I am doing is the only way to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
Trump made similar comments in his address to the nation on Wednesday, where he touted his accomplishments to fix the mess Biden left him when he came into office on January 20, 2025, including on the southern border, where not a single alien has illegally entered the country in seven months, drugs entering the US are down 94%, and we are seeing reverse migration for the first time in 50 years; his efforts to restore law and order in Washington, DC and around the nation with Federal troops and agents; restoring American military strength; bringing the economy back and prices down from when the last Administration and Congress “looted our Treasury for trillions of dollars” over the last four years; job creation this year, 100% of which was in the private sector, not government employees; and more.
Trump further announced a “warrior dividend,” stating, “In honor of our nation’s founding in 1776, we are sending every soldier $1,776.”
Tonight, Trump is expected to have the same message.
The President is scheduled to begin speaking at 9 pm ET.
