A suspect is now in custody following the shooting at Brown University yesterday afternoon.

His name has not been released, nor has he been charged with any offense at this time.

NBC reported:

Two senior law enforcement officials briefed on the matter say a suspect is in custody in connection with the shooting.

The man had a unique characteristic on his firearm and that firearm was found when he was taken into custody.

The person has not been identified and has not yet been charged.

Providence Mayor Brett Smiley confirmed NBC’s reporting but is calling the individual detained a “person of interest.” He also announced the shelter-in-place order has been lifted.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, multiple people were shot at Brown University in Rhode Island on the second day of final exams on Saturday.

Two people are dead, and at least 8 are injured in the mass shooting, according to NBC News. Eight are in critical but stable condition.

A shelter-in-place directive remained in effect for the greater Brown University area several hours after the shooter committed his act of terrorism.

Students finally evacuated from Brown University at 8:45 pm ET.

After initially claiming a suspect was taken into custody, Brown University corrected its statement to confirm that the shooter is still at large.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
