The Gateway Pundit reported on the kidnapping and persecution of Christians in Nigeria.  The attacks highlight the ongoing vulnerability of Christian institutions in rural areas and underscore a broader security crisis that threatens religious freedom and the right of young people to an education free from fear.

Last week, gunmen attacked a government girls’ boarding school in Nigeria’s Kebbi State. During the attack,  the vice principal was murdered, and 25 female students were kidnapped.

CNN reports:

The assailants, armed with rifles and reportedly using coordinated tactics, stormed Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga town around 4 a.m. local time, engaging police in a gunfight before scaling the perimeter fence and seizing the students, police spokesperson Nafiu Abubakar Kotarkoshi said.

Vice Principal Hassan Yakubu Makuku was shot dead while resisting the attackers, and another staff member sustained gunshot injuries, he added.

Police said additional tactical units, soldiers and local vigilantes have been deployed to comb suspected escape routes and surrounding forests in a search-and-rescue operation.

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shared, “All the schoolgirls abducted in Kebbi State have been safely rescued.”

“I must commend our security forces for their swift response, and the parents and community for their strength during this period.”

“In response to the recent kidnappings and acts of terrorism, I have ordered a full security cordon over the forests in Kwara State. The Air Force is to maintain continuous surveillance over the most remote areas, synchronising operations with ground units to effectively identify, isolate, disrupt, and neutralise all hostile elements. This directive also extends to the Kebbi and Niger axis.”

“Communities are encouraged to report any unusual movements to support ongoing operations as we move decisively to secure every affected area.”

President Donald Trump recently weighed in on the ongoing slaughter of Christians in Nigeria. According to Intersociety (the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law), approximately 125,009 Christians have been killed in Nigeria since 2009. In 2024 alone, 3,100 Christians were killed and 2,830 kidnapped.

President Trump wrote on Truth Social, “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter.”

“I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN’ — But that is the least of it.”

“When Christians, or any such group, is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 Worldwide), something must be done!”

“I am asking Congressman Riley Moore, together with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately look into this matter, and report back to me. The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria, and numerous other Countries. We stand ready, willing, and able to save our Great Christian population around the World!”
