President Trump released an advertisement for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac on Friday afternoon, emphasizing the American dream of homeownership and seemingly taking a thinly veiled shot at Zohran Mamdani ahead of their meeting at the White House.
“The American dream isn’t a headline. It’s not a handout or a hashtag,” the President states in the video, making a clear distinction between Socialist handouts and American private property ownership.
“It’s what you earn through hard work and what you’re free to build when your leaders put you first.”
President Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire to privatize Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, government-sponsored home mortgage enterprises intended to provide liquidity to the mortgage market with mortgage-backed securities and free up capital for home loans.
US Director of Federal Housing Bill Pulte shared an article in August, hinting that a Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac IPO could come as early as 2025.

Recently, Trump has been exploring options to make homeownership more accessible to younger generations, including a 50-year mortgage proposal. However, after heavy criticism over the idea, Pulte shared on X that the Trump Administration is “actively evaluating portable mortgages.”
Now, Trump is touting Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac again.
Trump posted the following clip about one hour before his meeting with the Socialist New York City Mayor-elect.

Likewise, the US House of Representatives also gave Zohran Mamdani a welcoming gesture, slamming his proposed policies with a resolution “denouncing the horrors of socialism” just hours before his meeting with the President.
86 Democrats voted in favor of the Republican-introduced resolution.
Even House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who gave his full endorsement to Mamdani, voted in favor, making it clear that Democrats only intended to feign opposition to Socialism.
