In the video, the woman displayed stolen goods like short ribs and cream cheese, explaining she only had $22 left on her EBT card and refused to pay the prices.
She justified her theft by invoking “eminent domain” and claimed she learned to “take it” from white men. The woman encouraged her followers to steal from corporations, stating that more people should have been doing so for a long time. She also advised infiltrating churches to request rent money or other assistance, and to publicly criticize them on social media if denied.
The video, originally from TikTok user @EBTofTikTok, garnered millions of views and sparked significant online engagement. This incident comes amid a government shutdown that has led to SNAP benefit lapses, affecting over 42 million Americans starting November 1, 2025.
Democrat Senator Chris Coons admitted in a C-SPAN interview that denying SNAP benefits is an “unpleasant” tool but provides Democrats with their “only moment of leverage” against Republicans. Coons’ remarks were made in the context of the ongoing shutdown, where Democrats are using the crisis to push for extensions on enhanced Obamacare subsidies.
