ICE agents arrested an illegal alien from Montenegro who was a sworn police officer in Hanover Park, Illinois, on Thursday.
“Congratulations, Officer Bojovic! Join us in congratulating Officer Bojovic, who graduated today (August 22, 2025) from the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy (SLEA),” the Hanover Police Department said in a Facebook post on August 22.
“He now begins an intensive 15 weeks of field training and evaluation as he continues preparing to serve the Hanover Park community,” they said.
On Thursday, ICE Agents arrested Bojovic.
Bojovic reportedly entered the US in 2015 and overstayed his visa.
“Illegal aliens are prohibited from owning or possessing firearms — full stop,” ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Chicago Field Office Director Sam Olson told RAV’s Ben Bergquam.
“This is the second known instance in recent months of a local police department hiring an illegal alien and unlawfully issuing him a firearm while on duty in violation of federal law. It is alarming how local jurisdictions continue to disregard federal law to the detriment of their communities,” he added.
“Radule Bojovic violated our nation’s laws and was living ILLEGALLY in the United States for 10 years—what kind of police department gives criminal illegal aliens badges and guns? It’s a felony for aliens to even possess a firearm. A law enforcement officer who is actively breaking the law,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin in a statement to CNN Thursday.

This is the second time an illegal alien employed as a police officer has been arrested by ICE agents.
Over the summer, ICE Agents arrested a Jamaican illegal alien who was actually employed as an officer for the Old Orchard Police Department in Maine.
According to Fox News, the illegal, Jon Luke Evans, tried to illegally purchase a gun, which triggered an alert to the ATF.
Evans reportedly lawfully entered the US in September 2023, but overstayed his visa when he never left on his departure flight scheduled for October 1, 2023.
