Another Senior Prosecutor Ousted from Eastern District of Virginia

Another senior prosecutor was ousted from the Eastern District of Virginia.

Maggie Cleary was removed from her position on Monday, according to CNN and CBS News.

Last month President Trump tapped Mary “Maggie” Cleary as the new Acting US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia after he fired Erik Siebert as the US Attorney.

Maggie Cleary is an attorney from Culpeper, Virginia, who recently said she was framed for January 6 and put on administrative leave as the Assistant US Attorney for the Western District of Virginia.

It is unclear if she still has a job at the Justice Department.

Lindsey Halligan was appointed as US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia shortly after Maggie Cleary was tapped for the position.

Halligan has since indicted former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

CNN reported:

Maggie Cleary — the senior Justice Department prosecutor who briefly led the powerful US attorney’s office in the Eastern District of Virginia last month before Trump ally Lindsey Halligan took over — has been removed from the office, according to two people familiar with the matter.

It’s unclear if Cleary is still employed by the Justice Department, potentially now in a different role, the sources said. She couldn’t be reached immediately on Monday, and a Justice Department spokesman declined to comment.

Cleary is the latest person exiting the office, as the Justice Department political leadership has become bolder in removing people that oppose their decisions. Halligan has moved quickly to assert her authority over the office, with several recent firings and departures, and becoming personally involved in courtroom proceedings — which is unusual for a US attorney —in the recent indictments of Trump foes James Comey and Letitia James.

The Justice Department is cleaning house as Deep State prosecutors in the Eastern District of Virginia ‘resist’ Trump and leak to the stenographers in the mainstream media.

Last week, another high-ranking prosecutor in the Eastern District of Virginia was fired.

The Justice Department fired high-ranking prosecutor Maya Song after top national security prosecutor Michael Ben’Ary was axed.

According to MSNBC, Elizabeth Yusi, a senior prosecutor who oversees criminal cases in the Norfolk office and claimed there is ‘no probable cause’ that Letitia James committed mortgage fraud, is on the chopping block.
