Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis announced on Wednesday that the state will fund research on generic drugs and their impact on cancer treatment.

In her press conference at the University of South Florida, First Lady Casey DeSantis, alongside State Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo, revealed Florida will allocate $60 million in cancer research grants.

In her announcement, she noted that some funds will be used for cancer research on ivermectin.

DeSantis shared, “Generic medicines are often overlooked because they’re off-patent and don’t necessarily promise big profits.”

She added, “Florida is investing in researching them to learn more and hopefully uncover new ways to beat cancer.”

Per AOL:

On World Cancer Research Day, Governor Ron DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis announced a new $60 million funding opportunity through the Florida Cancer Innovation Fund to support innovative cancer research.

The third-year funding initiative, which brings the total investment to $140 million since the fund’s inception, will focus on high-impact research, with a particular emphasis on nutrition practices for cancer prevention and treatment.

The Casey DeSantis Cancer Research Program established the Florida Cancer Innovation Fund to accelerate breakthrough research, improve treatment models, and remove barriers to life-saving medical advancements.

The new $60 million opportunity will prioritize projects that focus on nutritional interventions and the repurposing of generic drugs for cancer treatment, such as Ivermectin.

Casey DeSantis, during her speech, noted actor Mel Gibson on the Joe Rogan podcast had several friends with stage 4 cancer who completely recovered after taking Ivermectin.
