WATCH: Karoline Leavitt Responds to Biden Autopen Pardons Amid DOJ Investigation into “Clearly Illegal Behavior” by Autopen Operators

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt delivers press briefing – June 3, 2025

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded on Tuesday to the ongoing investigation into Biden’s autopen signatures used for pardons.

Fox White House correspondent Peter Doocy brought the receipts, highlighting the clear discrepancies between autopen signatures and what appears to be a real Biden signature. Highlighting a likely real signature, Doocy hilariously stated, “If you look at the last name, it almost looks like the President was having a hard time spelling his last name there.”

This comes as the Department of Justice (DOJ) investigates the preemptive pardons Biden issued to six members of his crooked family and the clemency he granted to 37 child rapists, murderers, and other violent thugs on death row.

The Gateway Pundit reported that the DOJ’s pardon attorney, Ed Martin, has officially opened an investigation into whether Biden “was competent and whether others were taking advantage of him through use of AutoPen or other means” during these actions.

Here We Go: Trump Administration Launches Investigation into Biden Autopen Scandal – Here Are the Details

When questioned by Doocy, Leavitt did not answer the question of whether the Trump Administration considers autopen signatures legitimate but highlighted the ongoing investigation.

Doocy then asked if there was worry that this could be seen as looking backward instead of forward, and Leavitt highlighted President Trump’s accomplishments, noting that it’s still a “very important issue” and “huge issue that sent the President back to this White House.”

“The Americans saw with their own eyes a mentally incompetent president, and they want answers for that, and the President believes they should have them,” she said.

In response to a later question about the DOJ’s investigation, declining to comment on the ongoing investigation but clarifying that “the question is not was the auto pen used; it’s whether or not the president of the United States knew it was being used and, if not, who was using it in his name, which is clearly illegal behavior.”

WATCH:

Doocy: When you look at these last-minute Biden pardons, the big ones –Biden siblings, Fauci, January 6 Committee, most of the big ones –have the same, very neat signature. We would expect that probably to be the autopen. There is one that looks different; it looks authentic. In fact, if you look at the last name, it almost looks like the President was having a hard time spelling his last name there. Is this White House of the opinion that the only pardon that would count is one that the President signed himself?

Leavitt: The President is making a good point when he discusses the usage of the autopen: Who was running the country for the last four years? Perhaps those documents were signed with the autopen, something that this– I believe the Department of Justice is looking into, as you saw, Ed Martin made an announcement at the Department of Justice this morning to launch an investigation because the American people deserve answers.

Doocy: Is there any concern that this President, who won an election on a promise to fix the economy and close the border, that focusing and scrutinizing these Biden pardons is looking into the past instead of looking forward?

Leavitt: I think in comparison to the amount of time this President has spent on securing the border, on fixing our economy, I just read out for you an entire list of accomplishments, economic accomplishments. Look at the border numbers, look at the time and effort he’s divulged into solving the global conflicts abroad. It pales in comparison, but it still, nevertheless, is a very important issue, and it was a huge issue that sent the President back to this White House. The Americans saw with their own eyes a mentally incompetent president, and they want answers for that, and the President believes they should have them.
