Establishment ‘conservative’ Friedrich Merz hasn’t even been inaugurated as Germany’s next Chancellor, but he is already in a big mess of his own making.
After betraying his voters in an agreement with Olaf Scholz’s liberal SPD party, Merz lost the leadership in the polls to the right-wing AfD party, and the trend appears to be continuing, with AfD growing and his CDU shrinking in the citizens’ favorability.
At the same time, Merz is trying to play tough against Russia, which is the tired old card to become ‘popular’ among the EU Globalist elites. Merz has now gone as far as vowing to send long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine, which would enable deep strikes into Russian territory.
And that has become a real problem.
The Kremlin was quick to criticize Merz today over his plans to send Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine.
Reuters reported:
“Merz, asked by German public broadcaster ARD on Sunday if he would supply Kyiv with Taurus missiles, said he would consider it if it were part of a wider package of support agreed with European allies.
‘This must be jointly agreed. And if it’s agreed, then Germany should take part’, said Merz, who is set to take office next month.”

While Germany has sent 7.1 billion euros in military assistance in 2024, Scholz has never supplied Taurus missiles with a range in of over 300 miles, capable of deep strikes into Russian territory.
“Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters it was clear from his comments that Merz would advocate a ‘tougher position’ which ‘will inevitably lead only to a further escalation of the situation around Ukraine.’
‘Unfortunately, it’s true that European capitals are not inclined to look for ways to reach peace talks, but are rather inclined to further instigate the continuation of the war,’ he told a daily briefing.”

But leave it to the Deputy Chair of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, to give voice to Russian maximalism and torch Merz in an unusually harsh rebuke on the X social media platform.
“Chancellor candidate Fritz Merz is haunted by the memory of his father, who served in Hitler’s Wehrmacht. Now Merz has suggested a strike on the Crimean Bridge. Think twice, Nazi!”
